
This is the initial sketch I drew in pencil.

Once scanned, I worked up the texture and depth with the predefined colors.
From AIGA Jacksonville asked 12 of our members to interpret the symbol most synonymous with love—the heart—for the 2012 I Love Design poster project. Each person brought a different creative interpretation. Here is my rendering of the classic love icon. The iconographic heart shape combined with the illustration of a bleeding, hair tufted, horned heart that is practically beating communicates how design is at the core of who I am. I love the way type itself can be illustrated to convey stronger messages.
